BANBURY MAGISTRATES
Christopher Wood, 52, of Mole Place, Oxford, was convicted of failing to supply information relating to the identity of a driver suspected of a driving offence in Banbury between August 5 and September 2. Fined £750 and ordered to pay a £75 victim surcharge and £200 costs. Driving licence endorsed with six points.
Jason Jones, 32, of Wedgewood Road, Bicester, admitted assaulting a woman by beating her in Blackburn Walk, Bicester, on April 2. Also convicted of assaulting a man by beating him in Blackburn Walk on the same date. Given a community order requiring 150 hours of unpaid work and participation in rehabilitation for 20 days. Also ordered to pay £750 costs and a £60 victim surcharge. Restraining orders against both victims until June 14, 2016.
Thomas Clark, 42, of Old London Road, Chipping Norton, admitted harassing a woman by sending obscene messages in Chipping Norton between February 5 and 11 this year. Community order made requiring 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and restraining order made against the victim until June 15, 2016. Ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £270 costs.
Craig Hewitt, 24, of no fixed address, admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Deans Court, Market Square, Bicester, on April 17. Given 18-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and a £150 criminal courts charge.
Chan Lam, 21, of Aston Street, Oxford, was convicted of travelling on a Cross Country train service between Leicester and Oxford via Banbury without paying £54.50 fare on December 12. Fined £400 and ordered to pay £54.50 compensation, a £40 victim surcharge and £125 costs.
Pradeep Virdee, 23, of Windmill Road, Oxford, admitted travelling on a Cross Country train service between Coventry and Oxford, via Banbury, without paying £30 fare on January 19. Fined £400 and ordered to pay £30 compensation, a £40 victim surcharge and £125 costs.
Joshua Williams, 20 of Dover Avenue, Bretch Hill, Banbury, was convicted of assaulting a man by beating him in Bretch Hill on October 12. Admitted failing without reasonable excuse to answer bail at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on June 15. Given a two-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and £775 costs.
Natalie Foster, 25, of High Acres, Banbury, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm in Banbury High Street on August 8. Given community order requiring 40 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
OXFORD MAGISTRATES
Makhan Purewal, 69, of Faringdon Road, Caversfield, near Bicester, admitted speeding at 39mph in a 30mph zone on Aynho Road, Adderbury, on October 2. Fined £100 and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs. Driving licence endorsed with three points.
Samuel Richardson, 26, of The Nursery, Sutton Courtenay, Abingdon, admitted driving in Lamborough Hill, Abingdon, without valid insurance on October 25. Fined £600 and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs. Driving licence endorsed with six points.
Stuart Nicholson, 38, of Nursery Close, Oxford, admitted stealing meat from Sainsbury’s in Cowley Road, Oxford, on June 19. Also admitted failing to provide a drugs sample to police while in custody in Abingdon Police Station on the same date. Jailed for a total of six weeks, ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and a £150 criminal courts charge.
Stephen Taylor, 57, of Cowley Road, Oxford, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Beaumont Street, Oxford, on April 17. Fined £50, ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge, £50 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge.
Stewart Butler, 54, of Hawksmoor Road, Oxford, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man in Hawksmoor Road on February 12 with the intent to cause him to believe violence would be used against him, or to provoke violence against him. Also admitted making a menacing phone call in Hawksmoor Road on the same date. Made subject to a community order requiring participation in rehabilitation for 40 days. Fined £85 and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge.
Paul Sawyer, 48, of Speedwell Street, Oxford, admitted breaching an antisocial behaviour order by begging in St Mary’s Passage, Oxford, on April 1. Also admitted same offence on April 17, April 23, April 25, April 29, May 13, May 14, May 27 and June 4. Also admitted committing an offence while subject to the order of a conditional discharge for begging, imposed on October 17. Sentenced to four weeks in prison suspended for nine months. Ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and a £180 criminal courts charge.
Hassan Yusuf, 25, of Willow Brook, Abingdon, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man in Nuneham Square, Abingdon, on May 26, with intent to cause him to believe that violence would be used against him or to provoke the use of violence against him. Made subject to a community order requiring him to carry out 80 hours unpaid work. Also admitted driving a vehicle in the same place on the same date without valid test certificate. Made subject to restraining order banning him from Nuneham Square until December 11. Ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge, £85 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge.
Frank Brown, 57, of Luther Street, Oxford, convicted of breaching an antisocial behaviour order on February 27. Also admitted possessing cocaine in Oxford on March 18. Also admitted committing an offence while subject to a conditional discharge. Fined a total of £150 and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £50 costs.
