REGARDING Laura Burns’ parking comments (June 23), we had visitors from Spain last week for a few days.
While on their coach from the airport to Gloucester Green, they phoned us so that we were able to time our collection to near perfection, with a turnaround of about six minutes. While the young lady at the ticket machine helped me to key in my car registration number, it still cost me £3.30.
Five days later, we returned our visitors and luggage to the bus station car park – another £3.30 for seven minutes.
While accepting the small loss of revenue to Oxford City Council, surely Oxford, with its many visitors, deserves some form of free, limited time, drop-off and collection area, as is provided in many other cities.
