AN INMATE at Bullingdon Prison started a fire in his own cell last night.
Fire crews were alerted to the blaze at about 7.15pm, but prison staff at the Arncott facility had extinguished it when they arrived.
Duty fire officer Gary Cooper said: “The prisoner had mild smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by ambulance crews.
“We carried out checks and smoke clearance on arrival.”
