I READ Alex Regan’s article about the water bills in Langford village and areas of Launton, where the meter readings have produced extraordinary increases in the billings.
We live in Fringford and have had almost exactly the same experience.
Our meter readings suggested that our water consumption had risen from 38 cubic metres for six months to 86 cubic metres for the recent comparable period. Thames Water did send us a letter commenting on our higher usage to see if we could explain it.
An engineer has now visited and resolved the matter so that we are now paying the right amount. However, there has been no explanation of how the meter readings produced such extraordinary results.
