THAMES Valley Police has revealed itself to be morally and professionally deficient with its ham-fisted attempt to haul Liberty Baker’s father into court.
No one can imagine the anguish Liberty’s family have felt since her tragic death and there may well have been justification for her killer’s family to call the police.
But how did officers come to make the boneheaded decision to not only prosecute a grief-stricken father but also issue a summons just six days after the sentencing of Robert Blackwell?
Shamefully the force refuses to disclose if senior officers were involved because a more common sense approach should have been taken.
More worryingly it has emerged police didn’t even have the legal grounds to pursue a case, merely underlining the farcical nature of this saga. Things should never have been allowed to progress to the brink of court and for that Thames Valley Police should hang its head in shame.
