PEOPLE with learning disabilities tried out a new mode of transport at a free taster session in Oxford.

The bike, pictured, is specially designed for wheelchair users to make it easier to ride.

Oxfordshire Sports Partnership hosted the event at Horspath Athletics Track in East Oxford on Friday.

Lee Peedel, 42, from Botley, went along with other service users from Abingdon Day Time Support.

He said: “It helped me and it was a lot of fun and really good exercise.”

Oxfordshire Sports Partnership is a collaboration between Oxfordshire County Council, various sports clubs and disability services which aims to provide more sport and active recreation opportunities.

The group believes that sport brings a wide range of benefits to communities and individuals, including improved health and community safety, increasing skills, employment and economic growth as well as providing opportunities for children and young people.
