COMMUNITY groups gathered for the finale of this year’s Tandem festival on Sunday afternoon.

The festival at Hill End’s 63-acre site near Farmoor, started on Friday and saw a host of acts play music, as well as workshops on environmental and social issues.

The event aims to get people listening to music to bring them closer and discover different sounds.

Bands were encouraged to turn off their amplifiers and perform intimately while people kicked back and relaxed.

Organiser Nicholas O’Brien said the festival had been a huge success.

He added: “We had an incredible diverse line-up of music, with people from Greece and Hungary coming over.

“We have a 50-piece orchestra perform too.

“The whole festival is non-profit and is run by volunteers with the aim of bringing the arts and music in tandem with environmental and social issues.

“We have been working hard with the local communities and it’s been a real pleasure.”
