SOLDIERS who died in the First and Second World Wars were remembered this morning at a service this morning
The Turning the Pages ceremony was held at the Military Chapel, Christ Church Cathedral, St Aldate’s, at 11am.
Colonel Mike Vince MBE (pictured) read out the names of 10 soldiers of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry who fell during the two wars.
The names of five men from Grandpont, South Oxford were read out as distant relatives and friends paid respect to them.
Arthur Belcher, Ernest William Brooks, Arthur Thomas Dolley, George Edwin Lovell Simpson and Charles George Tyrrell were the men from Grandpont who lost their lives during the First World War.
Mr Vince said: "It was a lovely service and a lot of relatives who have not been before turned up.
"I hope it was very nice for them. After the service they were able to see their names in the book.
"The cadets from Abingdon were here too and that's good because we need to keep remembering the soldiers who fought and pass it on."
