A FATHER-OF-SIX travelled home in style after winning a Father’s Day competition run by the Oxford Mail and supercar experience provider The Racing School.
Recovery driver Mark Parslow, who ferries his disabled grandson to the John Radcliffe Hospital at the drop of a hat, was surprised at work with a trip home in a Lamborghini Gallardo, which has a top speed in excess of 200mph.
His daughter Samantha Mackin, 26, entered the competition, writing about why her dad deserved to win the treat.
Her five-year-old son Charlie has several health conditions and with his father not around, the mother-of-two relies on her own father.
She said: “My son has a lot of health needs, he has brain damage, epilepsy and cerebral palsy.
“I’m living in High Wycombe and have no transport, so he takes Charlie to the John Radcliffe if he has an emergency appointment. Even if he’s been working through the night he will do it.”
She added: “He was shocked and it was quite emotional.
“He’s my rock and I wanted to appreciate him for what he does.”
Mr Parslow, from Brackley, said: “It was a shock to say the least. I didn’t know what was going on when I came out of work and saw them all there. I’ve always been there for my daughter and grandson – if it was any of my kids I would do the same.”
