THE new-look Oxford Half Marathon has nearly sold out after 4,500 runners signed up ahead of October’s race.
Last month it was reported that organisers of the event had changed the route to start and finish in St Giles, differing from the previous route which started and finished at the Kassam Stadium.
Now organisers Vitality has revealed that the race on October 11 is expected to completely sell out “very soon.”
Race organiser Jamie Warren said anyone who wants to take part in the route should sign up soon or could miss out.
Mr Warren added: “We are very excited to see that runners appear to love the new route as much as we do and with a huge uptake of over 4,500 entries so far so we are expecting a complete sell out very, very soon.
“We would urge anyone thinking about taking part to sign up as soon as possible.
“Whether you’re a half marathon pro, looking for a goal to help you get fit, a challenge to raise money for charity, a PB on a great course or simply to have fun as you run, this is the race for you.”
The new 13.1 mile route is tailored for runners to take in more of the city centre, with a strong emphasis placed on tourist attractions as runners power through Magdalen Street and Broad Street.
