I WAS pleased to see the photograph of steam engine No.7816 Frilsham Manor, one of the last three steam engines to leave Didcot locomotive shed 50 years ago (Memory Lane, June 8).
To mark the anniversary, staff at Didcot Railway Centre, which occupies the site of the former shed, recreated the scene with the centre’s preserved Manor class locomotive, No.7808 Cookham Manor.
As your readers will see, Cookham Manor is in the same position as its classmate in June 1965, with a group of present day workers waving to her.
