HINKSEY Park in Oxford became a hive of activity this week as locals were taught how to make “bee hotels”.
Sustainability and wildlife experts buzzed around the park on Tuesday to offer people some building advice and tips on how to make their gardens bee-friendly.
The event was part of the second annual Low Carbon Oxford week, sponsored by Oxford City Council, which aims to encourage and support people trying to lower their carbon footprint.
Jenny Ekelund, of sustainability consultants Oakgrove Associates, said: “Hinksey Park became a centre for bee creativity as members of the public sampled a bee buffet and came up with ideas to make Oxford the most bee-friendly city in the UK.”
She was joined at the event by Tanya Hawkes of Therapi Honey Skincare and Fiona Tavner of Friends of the Earth.
