Sir –Managers at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust need to made aware of one of the main reasons for the waste of money caused by missed hospital appointments.
Over the past year I have had more than six outpatient appointments and for most of these have received both duplicated and contradictory letters.
When phoning to query these details you are invariably met with either no response or a message service which is not responded to.
This situation has occurred at all three main Oxford hospitals and must be a major contributor to no shows, especially amongst the older generation for whom most of the appointments apply.
The NHS, for whom I have great admiration for its healthcare, needs to urgently address its own outpatients appointments system.
