COUNCILLOR Janet Godden complains bitterly about the current traffic chaos in Oxford caused by Oxfordshire County Council road works (June 15).
She castigates council cabinet members for this chaos, and asks “how many of them represent people living in the city, and are going through this wretchedness month after month”.
The short answer is none. They are all rural Tories.
But people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
Cllr Godden lives in the Vale of White Horse council area, and indeed from 2001 to 2005 was a county council cabinet making decisions about our city as a councillor representing a division that is not in our city.
Some of those decisions were related to the implementation and development of the ludicrous, and ill thought out, Oxford Transport Strategy, which is where our present traffic problems spring from.
Cllr Godden has responsibility for this, and should not castigate the present cabinet members for a sin that she has been guilty of.
