CHILDREN scaled massive trees, enjoyed a real fire and made “mud soup” on an activity day in Wheatley.
The Heart of the Wildwood group meets every Monday in woodland off Littleworth Road.
The club allows children to explore their surroundings and learn more about nature in an outdoor environment.
It was set up by Little Milton resident Melanie Kinghan.
The 41-year-old said: “I’ve been doing this for 20 years, but the club itself was set up in February 2013.
“The club gives children ‘free play’ and allows them to explore the space around them and get in touch with nature.
“There’s tree climbing, we always have a fire going and children can play and have fun.”
At the group on Monday, June 8, two-year-old Fox Davies from Wheatley had fun climbing up trees in the wildwood.
His mother Claire said: “It is great for the community having Wildwood here and it helps a great deal with outdoor learning.”
Wildwood play groups also run on Tuesdays in Little Milton and Tetsworth and on Thursdays in Headington.
