PCSO James Hopkin(COR) met his match when he spent the day at Wheatley Primary School.
He visited the school on Thursday last week with representatives from emergency services.
It was PSCO Hopkin who came up with the idea when he approached the school and said he wanted to teach children more about how to be safe out and about.
The day’s events included a course in HGV safety, which drew on the science of weights and forces to teach them about stopping distances.
PCSO Hopkin and Pc Laura Potter told them about the development of policing and the importance of cycle helmet safety.
PCSCO Hopkin said: “It was the first time I had planned anything like this, and we tailored the lessons to different age groups .”
Firefighter Harry Wilkinson of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service brought along a fire engine to teach the youngsters the importance of wearing a seat belt, and the children had the opportunity to question fire officers and discuss their role besides fighting fires.
Finally, volunteers from St John Ambulance led a workshop in basic first aid experience for all children.
