THE pouring rain proved no deterrent to the dancers, singers and food fanatics who gathered at the Jericho Street Fair on Saturday.
Canal Street was filled with community and food stalls, live music, dancing and activities for kids.
Oxford University and City Morris Men were in full flow from about noon, despite the downpours.
Morris dancer Ed Gibbons, a publisher from Oxford, said that he loved performing in Jericho because it was where the band’s regular practice sessions were held.
The 30-year-old said: “It was a great day although it is a shame it was raining.
“But the crowd were absolutely brilliant so it is always a highlight of our year.
“It is always a nice vibe in Jericho and there is nothing not to like.”
Tourist Elaine Lindsay, who was visiting from New Zealand, said it was events like the Jericho Street Fair that made her sad to leave the city.
The 62-year-old said: “I think it is amazing and I love the way they just carried on even though it was raining.
“I have loved visiting the country because it has lovely people who are really well-dressed and well-spoken.
“I’m going to be sad to leave Oxford because it has been a great city to visit.”
