Firefighters were called to tackle a caravan blaze at a travellers’ site.
Two fire engines were sent to the site on Old Abingdon Road after crews were alerted at 8.02pm on Thursday.
Didcot town councillor Tim Bedford said he was driving along the A34 from Oxford to Didcot when he saw a big black plume of smoke in the sky.
He said: “It looked like a really big fire at first but as I got nearer it wasn’t that big, it was obviously just very toxic because it was very black.”
Police said the fire was not suspicious.
