THERE are enough recyclable things in your bathroom to fill a tub with, according to councillor John Tanner.
Oxford City Council is raising awareness about what can be recycled from different rooms throughout a home as part of Recycle Week 2015.
In the bathroom, roll tubes, toothpaste boxes and aerosol cans, as well as plastic shampoo, liquid soap and bathroom cleaner bottles can all be put in your blue boxes.
According to the city council, if everyone in the UK recycled one toothpaste box it would save enough energy to run a fridge for a year in more than 2,000 homes.
Mr Tanner, council executive board member for Cleaner, Greener Oxford, said: “Most people know what they can recycle in the kitchen and have made it part of their routine.
“But not everyone understands how much can be recycled from other rooms in the house, particularly from the bathroom.
“We all need to recycle more, throw away less and help the planet. Oxford is one of the best recycling cities in the country but we could do more.”
Recycling Week takes places from June 22 to 28 and the local authority is running a series of events across Oxford to promote it.
On June 23 it is holding a free tour of the Energy Recovery Facility in Ardley, near Bicester, with a minibus leaving the council depot in Marsh Road, Cowley, at 9.15am. Places must be booked by calling 01865 249811.
It is also giving away five tonnes of free compost in Florence Park on Saturday June 27, between 10am and noon.
