Sir – Perhaps those who object to some night trains coming through their neighbourhoods, carrying materials to/from the construction depot in Calvert, will appreciate the plight of those who live near the Calvert depot.
The latter will be subject not only to the noise from the loading and unloading of those trains, but also to 24-hour a day workings at the floodlit site, 365 days per year, for the full 10 years. After that they will have the noise of the HS2 trains indefinitely. Count your blessings in North Oxford.
