An elderly man was rescued from his flat in Headington after a fire broke out.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze started shortly before 9pm, on Tuesday, in a sheltered housing block in Colemans Hill.
A fire engine from the Slade Park fire station in Oxford was sent to the scene and two firefighters entered the building.
They helped the man get out of his bed and took him to safety outside the flat. He was then taken to hospital suffering from minor burns and smoke inhalation. The service said the fire was caused by a dropped cigarette .
