TEMPORARY traffic lights will be put in place at Barns Road in Cowley this evening so a gas leak can be mended.
Claire Buchanan, spokeswoman for gas supplier SGN, said the firm’s engineers were alerted to a gas leak at the road's junction with Boswell Road, in Oxford, this morning.
She said engineers have been monitoring the leak this afternoon and will put three-way temporary traffic lights in place around 6pm to allow them to carry out a repair safely.
She added: “We will be working through the night to make our repair and, all being well, are hopeful that our works will be completed by end of day on Thursday.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank road users for their patience while we carry out our repair.”
She said there are no properties in the vicinity and therefore no residents have been affected.
