IT was with great interest that I read the letter (Pull it down: This pub’s far too big for a commercial venture, June 9) regarding the Ampleforth Arms.
Quite frankly, I think we should be applauding and supporting those who are trying to save “The Amp” as a community asset, rather than belittling their efforts to do so from afar.
It takes a lot to stand up to do something like this.
Risinghurst has a great and diverse community which could be seen by the many that attended the Community Fete and Picnic at the playing fields last Sunday.
I am sure that “The Amp” can have a great future given the right backing and direction. I write this as a grandson of one of the first customers through its doors.
