A FORMER Oxford University student who claimed she was mistreated hopes others in similar circumstances can come forward.
Sophie Spector, 22, who is embroiled in a row with Balliol College, said she dropped out of a politics, philosophy and economics degree because she was forced to take medical leave.
Miss Spector, who is dyslexic and suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder, said she was denied extra time to prepare for exams, although she was entitled to have it.
Miss Spector, who lives in London, said: “I’ve put everything in writing and I have complained to the dean. It’s not about me, I have been in contact with people at Oxford who have been treated worse than me.”
A Balliol College spokesman said: “A formal complaint is under investigation. We cannot comment on that or on individual cases, but the college has a thorough and caring approach which is not fairly represented by selectively quoting from email correspondence.”
An Oxford University spokesman added: “The university takes a proactive approach to students with disabilities.
“The decision to take medical leave is never entered into lightly.”
