OXFORD was taken over by Scouts on Saturday as they scoured the streets to raise money for disaster victims.
More than 100 children from Oxfordshire Scouts set off from the Sea Scouts HQ by Donnington Bridge for a “scavenger hunt” in Oxford for charity ShelterBox.
The aim of the day was for scouts to follow a trail in order to find clues used to unlock their next destination, learning about the city’s history in the process.
It is hoped the day, which cost participants a £5 entrance fee, will raise enough money to buy a £600 ShelterBox, containing aid for disaster victims.
Imogen Rogers, 10, a pupil at St Leonard’s School, Banbury, said: “It was fun and I realised the Shelter Box really matters.
“I learned how big Oxford was and there were a lot of old places.
“I enjoyed most pushing round the shelter box, it was fun to walk round Oxford.”
Assistant scout leader Nathalie Soanes, from Beckley, added: “The day went really well with a lot of happy faces.”
