NEW volunteers are now on track to help Didcot Railway Centre.
The centre, which has an unrivalled collection of Great Western Railway locomotives, held a New Volunteers Day to encourage more people to get involved, as part of National Volunteering Week.
Staff at the 23-acre site next to Didcot Parkway rail station sought volunteers to run open days, drive or polish steam trains or help with restoration work.
The museum is home to a number of steam engines, coaches and wagons as well as a recreation of Brunel’s broad gauge railway and is open daily.
Trustee at the centre Ann Middleton said: “We have a great team of volunteers and are always looking for more help.
“Extending our voluntary teams will help us allocate more funds to our restoration and development work. When I started volunteering here in the shop, I never dreamt I would end up driving our diesel railcar.”
