An American city has installed red phone boxes in an attempt to emulate its namesake in the Vale of White Horse.
The town council of Abingdon in Virginia, United States, bought the two phone boxes after contacting Abingdon, Oxfordshire, resident and Vale of White Horse district councillor Mike Badcock.
Both phone boxes are believed to have been used in England before being decommissioned.
They will have internet installed and be used as information hubs.
Mr Badcock said: “I think it is brilliant. They have asked me to find them an old blue police box now.”
