OUR elected MEPs have a rare opportunity on Wednesday to vote in the European Parliament on the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) that the EU has been negotiating behind closed doors with US interests and with lobbyists for major multinational corporations.
I am one of two million UK citizens who signed a petition opposing this deal, which would allow precious public services like the NHS to be bought up by giant US corporations, and would downgrade UK privacy, health and safety, and environmental regulations to lower US standards that offer significantly less protection.
Readers who don’t want our British rights and services to be sacrificed to foreign corporations should email our local MEPs today (see http://bit.ly/1Q7DDFw). They need to know that the British public opposes this undemocratic deal.
