GEORGE Osborne says he wants to bring spending down so our country lives within its means.
Does that mean that the electorate that put his party in government has to tighten its belts even more, while millions of pounds are still paid daily to the EU and spent on overseas aid?
Will he at the same time cut our defence budget and public services, meaning we will have part-time soldiers instead of professionals and PCSOs instead of police officers at a time when our armed forces are deployed around the world and with the very real threat of terrorism to this country and the rest of the world.
Oh well, the Government still continues to cut the budget of local authorities, who in turn make cuts in welfare and public services which affects the daily lives of many.
Never mind, we must be expected to do our bit for, after all, we are in it together.
Politicians speak of pay rises and councillors increase the amount of their expenses. Isn’t that just thumbing their noses at us peasants in these times of austerity which will probably go on for decades?
It would be no surprise to see bus passes withdrawn in the future and the winter payment to pensioners cut drastically.
I find it ironic that the politicians are there to celebrate the anniversaries of VE Day, Normandy, Dunkirk and soon VJ Day, honouring our servicemen and women who gave so much, all those who gave their lives in two world wars, and yet continue to sell us down the river.
Those brave men and women didn’t realise that for all they had done for our country, that it would be given away in later years.
