A POLLING station in Oxford could not process votes because it had not received a full electoral register.
Voter Gareth Allcott said the polling station at Rose Hill Methodist Church had queues of between 30 and 40 people waiting to vote at 7.30am.
The 40-year-old Rose Hill resident said: “I arrived and there was a big queue, it was clear that a lot of people were agitated.
“It turned out they didn’t have a second copy of the electoral register.
“I was gobsmacked, they’ve had five years to prepare for this.
“Surely there should be checks in place?”
The King Alfred’s Academy assistant headteacher had to leave the polling station to drive to work in Wantage but will vote later.
He added: “Some people aren’t as lucky; one woman said she would have to leave because she was going to miss her bus to London.
“I’m absolutely fuming.”
Spokeswoman for Oxford City Council Jenny Tozer said: “There was a problem because the station had not received part of the electoral register.
“They received the missing pages by 8.10am and voters are asked to return to the station and vote.”
According to the council all other voting stations are running as normal
