A FIRE at the Kassam Stadium is being treated by police as a suspected arson attack.
Thames Valley Police Inspector Chris Evans said the fire broke out in a stairwell at the stadium shortly before 6pm on Monday.
He said: "Officers attended a report of a fire in the stairwell.
"The fire service was in attendance and put the fire out, which is being treated as arson."
There were reports on social media that a bin may have been set alight.
Oxford United confirmed there was a small fire at the stadium yesterday evening.
A spokesman for the club said the fire was quickly contained and no serious damage was caused.
He added: "The incident is currently under police investigation and neither the club or Firoka, the stadium company, are able to comment further at this time."
