THE Prime Minister took a break from the election campaign trail to feed an orphaned baby lamb at Dean Lane Farm, near Witney, on Easter Sunday.
The Conservative parliamentary candidate for Witney had come from an Easter Sunday service with his wife Samantha at St Nicholas Church, Chadlington near Chipping Norton.
In a video released yesterday, David Cameron said the UK was “still a Christian country” and welcomed its contribution to political debate.
He said: “The Church is not just a collection of beautiful old buildings. It is a living, active force doing great works across our country.
“Across Britain, Christians don’t just talk about ‘loving thy neighbour’, they live it out. Yes, we are a nation that embraces, welcomes and accepts all faiths and none but we are still a Christian country.”
On Saturday, Mr Cameron made the short trip from Witney to Abingdon to join Conservative parliamentary candidate Nicola Blackwood.
He met with about 115 party volunteers and took part in leafleting in the Peachcroft area.
At one point Mr Cameron dropped in on a family in Lindsey Drive who were celebrating their child’s first birthday. Miss Blackwood’s campaign manager James Anderson said the family were “delighted” to meet him.
