TRAINS from Oxford to the north of England will be disrupted until at least Tuesday after a landslip on Saturday.
The incident occurred between Banbury and Leamington Spa, meaning CrossCountry and Chiltern Railways services are unable to run from Banbury to Birmingham.
It comes just 11 months after a landslip on the same stretch of track led to similar disruption.
Replacement bus services are running between Banbury and Leamington Spa but Network Rail warned this could extend journey time by up to 90 minutes.
A journey from Oxford to Birmingham normally takes about one hour.
A Chiltern Railways spokesman said: “The route will remain blocked between Leamington Spa and Banbury all day on Sunday, February 1.
“There is a reasonable possibility that the route will also remain blocked on Monday.”
Network Rail said disruption will continue until Tuesday.
The closure coincides with planned engineering work between Oxford and Banbury today, with replacement buses also running between the two stations.
Passengers who were planning to travel to Banbury by bus and then onwards by train can instead travel on buses direct from Oxford to Leamington Spa.
Chiltern Railways tickets will be accepted on CrossCountry, First Great Western, London Midland, London Underground and Virgin Trains services.
CrossCountry passengers can use Chiltern Railways, First Great Western and South West Trains on any reasonable route.
