Sir – Your items in The Oxford Times of January 22, in relation to “plans to close all park-and-rides within the ring road” and “Districts unite against ‘supercouncil’ report” yet again highlights the regular sniping and back-biting between the district councils in Oxfordshire, in particular Oxford City Council and the county council.
It seems councillors need to be reminded that the councils are not their private fiefdoms, but belong to the people of Oxfordshire.
The councils should work together to provide value-for-money services, even improve them, with the finance available so any ideas for the future should be debated and not dismissed out of hand.
I must say having five councils in Oxfordshire seems a very expensive way of delivering services.
