Saturday

  • Two bereaved parents will be hosting a charity event in honour of their baby son, who passed away. Luke and Gemma Froude have held Finnley’s Day for four years and have raised more than £50,000 for charity SSNAP. Dee Kelly, known as White Dee from Channel 4’s Benefits Street, will be there to help the couple raise cash. There will be craft stalls, refreshments, a bouncy castle, toy sale, bottle raffle and more at Banbury Town Hall, Bridge Street, between 9am and 5pm.
  • Activist group Sustainable Wallingford is hosting a swap shop at the Regal Centre in St Martin’s Street between 9.45am and 11am. People are encouraged to bring clean, safe and genuinely reusable items that people may want as well as taking items. All are welcome to attend.
  • Residents in Letcombe Bassett will host an exhibition on the history of their area at the village hall from 2pm, with film clips being shown between 7.30pm and 9pm. The exhibition will tell the story of when the village was considered unfit for habitation and North Bucks planning committee considered flattening the settlement, close to Wantage, in 1948. All are welcome to attend.

Sunday

  • Oxford Conservation Volunteers are looking for people to help improve conditions in a wetland near West of Duke’s Lock on the Oxford Canal. Volunteers will start coppicing and pollarding the willows along the eastern bank of the pond. Anyone wishing to attend is advised to wear old clothes, and transport to the site is provided at 9.20am outside the Lamb and Flag on St Giles’ Street, and at 9.30am at the Tesco on Cowley Road. Monday

  • Work will begin on resurfacing the Jericho towpath by the Oxford Canal between between Walton Well Road and Aristotle Lane. The resurfacing, to be done by the Canal & River Trust, was supposed to begin on January 15 but was delayed due to “lack of resources”. The path should be reopened by February 23.
  • Oxford City Council will host a full council meeting at 5pm in the Town Hall and the public are welcome to attend. Councillors will be discussing revised plans for developers to contribute to affordable housing schemes, new street trader regulations and Liberal Democrat councillors Jean Fooks and Andrew Gant will ask the executive board to consider campaigning for devolution of powers from Westminster.

Tuesday

  • A free knitting group will be held at the Jam Factory in Park End Street between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. All ages and abilities are welcome.
  • Oxford City Council will be hosting a free ping pong tournament at The Varsity Club in The Covered Market between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.

Wednesday

  • All Saints Church in Lime Walk, Headington, will be hosting a free recital at 8pm with wine and soft drinks served after the concert. Twin brothers and piano duo Kevin and John Robson will be playing songs by Gershwin and Rachmaninoff.

Thursday

  • Oxfordshire County Council will be holding a Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee at Oxford County Hall at 10am and the public are welcome to attend. Councillors and executives of health services in the county will discuss the future of the health service in Oxfordshire and what improvements need to be made.

Friday

  • Folk band Tribe by Tinkers will be hosting a fundraising concert to set up the Cowley Road Carnival’s first street band at East Oxford School in Union Street between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. Tickets cost £10. £34,657 of the £120,000 required to put the festival on in July has already been raised.
