Sir – I see (Report, January 15) that Chiltern Railways will begin running trains during 2015. That is very satisfying.
However I wonder whether anyone has thought how passengers will access the new station at Water Eaton from Oxford, especially after 2.30pm on a Friday when the traffic queue stretches forever through Summertown, even occasionally reaching St Giles. My journey time, if I wish to leave during the rush hour, threatens to take an additional hour just to access the station from North Oxford. I anticipate the reply will be ‘bike’. That is what I intend to do unless I am carrying a large suitcase or am done up in full evening dress, or even if I just prefer a relaxed journey.
What happens then? I am hoping a tunnel will magically appear under the Banbury Road roundabout in the next few months, otherwise I’m scuppered.
Julia Miles, Oxford
