THE three remaining cooling towers at the former Didcot A power station will be demolished in 2016, according to energy company RWE npower.
Last month bosses at the company said the three remaining towers were expected to be demolished in the second half of this year.
But they now say the demolition of the towers will not take place until next year, although no precise date has yet been given.
Thousands of people gathered to see the first of three of the six 325ft cooling towers blown up during the early hours of July 27 last year.
RWE npower spokesman said: “The demolition of the three remaining cooling towers will take place in 2016, unless it is decided otherwise.
“If the demolition was brought forward we would let people know.”
Ms Brown said members of the public would not be able to see the demolition of the main station buildings because the site is enclosed.
Demolition of Didcot A’s coal yard was completed in November and the 47-hectare site has now been sold to Clowes Developments, which has started consulting the public on a major scheme.
Clowes and Graftongate wants to build 400 houses, shops, a hotel and pub on the site and residents were shown the plans last month at the Cornerstone Arts Centre.
