TWO have been arrested after a man hit another over the head with a bottle in Barns Road, Oxford after the victim was asked for money for the bus, police said.
Thames Valley Police said a woman with a man at a bus stop opposite Templars Square Shopping Centre asked a man and his partner for money.
Police said: “The couple refused and then the man at the bus stop produced a bottle and hit the first man over the head.
“An altercation ensued and the man with the bottle ran off down an alleyway. Following this incident, both men required hospital treatment.”
The incident happened at 3.30am on Sunday, January 11 but the force only released details yesterday.
Two Oxford men aged 53 and 41 have been arrested on suspicion of GBH. The 41-year-old has been bailed until Wednesday, February 18, and the 53-year-old has been bailed until Thursday, February 19.
The force said: “Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, in particular a member of the public who tried to intervene at one point and also the occupants of several cars which drove past at the time.”
