THE KASSAM Stadium will echo to a minute’s applause this afternoon to mark the death of a lifelong U’s fan.
Keith Pasfield, who was brought up in East Oxford, died aged 55 at his home in Barking, Essex.
He was a popular figure among many United supporters and fell in love with the U’s after he attended his first game in the late 60s.
The season ticket-holder attended his last fixture just down the road from his Barking home at Dagenham and Redbridge on January 10.
John Duggan, 43, stood at the back of the East Stand and travelled all over the country with his best friend as they cheered on the Yellows.
He said: “There have been so many memories I’ve had with Keith over the past 40 years.
“We’ve travelled as far as Livingston for a pre-season friendly. He made many friends from both Oxford and other clubs along the way.”
Fans have urged everyone to take part in a minute’s applause during the 55th minute of Oxford United’s home game today against Exeter City.
Mr Duggan, who also lives in Barking, added: “It’s a great way for Oxford fans to show their respect and remember him. He’d love it.”
Owner of Yellows Forum Mark Lambourne said: “Keith was a lovely man and friend with a heart of gold.
“He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, especially by the Barking Yellows.”
Mr Pasfield’s family have asked his football friends to wear Oxford United shirts when they attend his funeral at 4.30pm on January 30 in Hainualt, Essex.
