THE Mini plant in Cowley produced the third highest number of cars in the United Kingdom last year.
British factories saw 1.5 million vehicles roll off the production line and the Cowley Road plant built 178,993 of that total.
Only Nissan’s factory in Sunderland and Jaguar Land Rover’s combined plants in Castle Bromwich, Halewood and Solihull produced more.
Business secretary Vince Cable said: “These production figures are testament to the strength of our automotive industry.”
