A CYCLIST punched a woman in the face in an unprovoked attack in Carterton, police said.
The victim, 37, was attacked at the junction of Black Bourton Road and Wycombe Way on Tuesday at 2.20pm.
She had stopped her blue Ford Mondeo at the junction's mini roundabout when a male cyclist rode along the passenger side and stopped in front of the car.
He got off his bike, spoke to the victim and then allegedly punched her through the open car window before cycling away.
She was left with a bleeding nose, swelling and black eyes but did not need to go to hospital.
Police said the man is white, between 53 and 55 years old, about 5ft 10ins, slim, with short hair. He was clean shaven and spoke with a local Oxfordshire accent.
He was wearing a light navy blue skin-tight cycling top with a fluorescent vest over the cycling top and light navy blue skin tight trousers.
He was not wearing a helmet and was carrying a dark coloured rucksack. The bike he was riding was a dark coloured mountain bike with no lights.
Police spokeswoman Connie Primmer said: "We would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the assault.
"There was a silver car behind the victim’s car at the time of the offence and the occupants may have witnessed the incident."
