A MAN who went missing from Witney was found dead six months later by a dog walker in Norfolk, a coroner’s court heard.
Malcolm Jones, 55, went missing from his daughter’s house in Bramble Bank, Madley Park on March 12.
Yesterday’s inquest at Oxford Coroner’s Court heard that his remains were found six months later on September 6 in woods behind Holmes Farm in West Somerton.
Mark Ditheridge was walking his dog along the nearby bridle path when his dog ran into the woods, assistant Oxfordshire coroner Peter Clark heard yesterday.
After following his dog Mr Ditheridge came across Mr Jones’ body.
Coroner Clark said: “His family reported that his mood was normal and that he was not in any financial problems and had no debts.
“He had no history of mental health problems and there was no suggestion that he would harm himself or others.”
The court heard when he went missing he did not take his phone, keys or wallet. A member of the public told police she had seen him at Witney bus station the afternoon of the day he went missing.
Mr Clark recorded a verdict of suicide, adding: “Mr Jones selected a very secluded spot where there was little risk of being found or disturbed.”
