AN ENCHANTED winter castle gleaming under the moonlight has brought a touch of magic to the city.
Freelance illustrator and artist Charlotte Orr has brightened Oxford Castle Quarter and O3 Gallery, in New Road, with her creative mural.
She was invited to paint the large outdoor masterpiece in the Castle Yard to illuminate the areas for visitors.
The 24-year-old from Kidlington said: "I have never done anything so large before so it was a challenge but it was a great opportunity to be able to have a public place of work.
"It lets people come and see it who wouldn't otherwise see my work. It was hard work and physically exhausting but it was really great.
"I have had quite nice feedback. I'm hoping a lot of people will see it."
The 120ft by 8ft mural brings to life the castle and its grounds and includes features of the castle's history.
It also features many hidden animals, including a mouse and a cat, which Miss Orr said she hopes visitors will search for.
Miss Orr spent six weeks decorating the outdoor space with her artwork after beginning her project in October.
Visitors to the complex can now see her glittering work among the quarter's restaurants.
