I AM writing to say how disgusted both myself and thousands of others in the Cowley area are with the decision to close the Temple Cowley Pools and gym.
And just when we thought it couldn't get more shambolic, just take at look at the Oxford Mail on January 7 with former Independent candidate Chaka Artwell.
The latest row is outlined in the headline ‘Golly gets in a bit of a jam with a man from the BBC ’.
I have met Mr Artwell and I can tell you he is a very pleasant and intelligent young man.

Perhaps this wasn’t best choice of a doll when he wanted to be interviewed. But then we are living in a crazy politically correct society when even sections of the media are governed by the “thought police’’.
- Chaka Artwell and his Golly
If our out of touch, self-centred and conceited Labour city councillors had listened to the electorate in the Temple Cowley area regarding our leisure centre, then I wouldn't be reading the article in the media.
And I will remind everyone that Labour are the only party who wants TCP centre closed.
The battle is briefly lost but the war is going to continue as I am sure an appeal is going to take place. I am continuing to give my full support to Mr Artwell and the Save Temple Cowley pools campaign.

THE letter from city councillor David Henwood (January 13) saying that Chaka Artwell was wearing a Golly which was racist leads me to suggest that Councillor Henwood should get a life.
If Mr Artwell is not offended (as he says himself, ‘I am a black person’) it does not bother me, so why should it bother others?
It’s people like Councillor Henwood who find problems when actually there are none.
The trouble with this country is there are too many people like Councillor Henwood who make the problems.
