Sir – A van reversed behind me as I walked up Market Street from the Cornmarket end (which feels like a continuation of the pedestrian precinct), and knocked me down. Result: two sprained ankles.

I think that vehicles without rear windows should be legally required to be fitted with an audible warning system — “beep beep” or “This vehicle is reversing”.

Anyway, I would like to thank the market stewards and others who helped me.
