A woman has been charged with the attempted murder of a patient at the Horton Hospital in Banbury.
Julia Knight, 55 of Sycamore Drive, Banbury, was charged yesterday with attempted murder.
It follows an investigation launched by Thames Valley Police into an incident reported on October 16 last year.
The condition of an 80-year-old woman, who was a patient at the hospital, deteriorated unexpectedly.
A subsequent police investigation found evidence to suggest the victim had been administered a potentially lethal dose of an un-prescribed medication.
The woman received medical attention and has since been discharged from the hospital.
Knight has been remanded in custody to appear at Banbury Magistrates’ Court today.
It has been confirmed that the woman is not an employee at the hospital.
