THE Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Thames through Oxford this evening.
The alert also covers the section of the River south of the city as far as Radley, including Kennington. An alert for Thames between Lechalde and King's Lock, near Wolvercote, was issued this afternoon.
A flood alert, the first of the three stages of the agency's flood warning system, means that flooding of low-lying land and property is possible and people should take precautions.
