ECCENTRIC people, those who believe in the supernatural and others who keep to themselves are being invited to be part of a study.

Oxford and Manchester universities are collaborating in efforts to find a new treatment for schizophrenia. Anyone interested and aged between 18 and 45 should fill out a 74-question survey, the universities say.

They could then be invited to Oxford University’s research centres for further testing and receive up to £340 for taking part.

The universities will examine how a single dose of the new schizophrenia treatment affects healthy subjects while they complete computer tests.

In a statement the universities said: “We want to know if a normal personality trait called schizotypy affects the results.

“The richness of human personality can be measured by various personality questionnaires. Most people in the general population have a mixture of high, low and average scores.

“We want to find people with below average schizotypy scores and with those who have above average scores to compare how they perform on the computer tests in the research project.”
