STAGECOACH has launched an investigation after a driver filmed one of its buses overtaking queueing traffic on the wrong side of the road.
After being given footage by a concerned Giles Stevens the bus company said any driver caught breaking the highway code would be disciplined.

The Carterton resident had recorded the bus on a ‘dash cam’ digital camera mounted in his car in Welch Way at 5.30pm last Tuesday.
The bus is seen overtaking vehicles queuing in the direction of Welch Way towards the town centre and over a pedestrian crossing. The number of the service is not clear on the video.

Mr Stevens said: “The bus was on the wrong side of the road, so anyone crossing the pedestrian crossing wouldn’t have been looking in the direction it was coming from.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. It could have been a serious accident.
“That pedestrian crossing is one of the busiest in town. A lot of people cross over there to get to the shops and the cinema.
“If you’ve got a bus driver doing that he’s going to kill someone.”
The holiday lets manager installed the £200 camera on his Mitsubishi Outlander after a near-miss on the A40 near Eynsham in March.
He said: “After that I thought if I’m going to snuff it in the car then at least I’ve got a video of it.”
Mr Stevens believes the cameras should be built into cars for insurance purposes.
He said: “They are not cheap but they will come down in price and I would expect them to be in all cars in the future.”
The cameras are popular in Russia, where many drivers captured a meteor falling from the sky in the Urals region in February 2013.
Stagecoach spokeswoman Karen Coventry said: “We have received the complaint and we are investigating. Any failure by one of our drivers to follow the highway code or be seen to be driving dangerously will be dealt with as part of our disciplinary procedure.”
