RECYCLING bins in South Oxfordshire will be removed after residents said they attracted fly-tipping.
Mixed recycling bins will be taken away from car parks, saving South Oxfordshire District Council about £20,000 a year.
Spokeswoman Natalie Ellis said the majority of people responding to a public consultation wanted the bins taken away because they “attract illegal fly-tipping and have become an eyesore”.
She added: “People regularly dump non-recyclable rubbish in and around the bins, which can contaminate the recycling, meaning it all sometimes has to go to landfill.”
Cabinet member David Dodds said: “Residents can leave all of their recycling at the kerbside, even if it doesn’t fit in their wheelie bin.
“Our neighbours in the Vale removed their bins and there was no increase in fly-tipping.”
